EASTERN CAPE — A major Addo drug bust has resulted in the apprehension of three individuals following a targeted, intelligence-led crackdown on the local distribution of illegal narcotics.
The multi-agency sweep unfolded on Thursday, 2 July 2026, bringing together the Makhanda Crime Prevention Unit, the Highway Patrol Unit, and a specialized K9 Unit. These teams collaborated to simultaneously execute search warrants across specific targeted properties in the area.
During the tactical searches, officers uncovered a diverse stash of prohibited substances. The confiscated inventory included Mandrax, Tik, Cat, and dagga. Authorities have appraised the total estimated street value of the recovered narcotics at R4,000. In addition to the drugs, a Volkswagen Polo was impounded at the scene to aid with ongoing investigative procedures.
Law enforcement officials took three suspects into custody in connection with the drug dealing charges. The arrested individuals range in age from 24 to 35 years old and are scheduled to make their first court appearance at the Nqweba Magistrate’s Court shortly.
