Turkish Airlines, the airline flying to more countries than any other, is expanding its South African network by increasing frequencies on its Istanbul–Johannesburg and Istanbul–Cape Town routes to meet the growing demand for travel between South Africa and Türkiye as well as onward destinations across its global networks. Johannesburg frequencies will increase from 7 to 10 weekly flights from 25 October 2026, followed by Cape Town from 26 October 2026, where frequencies will also increase from seven to ten weekly flights.
This expansion increase brings Turkish Airlines’ total South Africa frequencies from 14 to 20 weekly flights, providing travellers with greater flexibility and more convenient access via Istanbul to the airline’s global network of more than 350 destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and America supported by its growing fleet of 553 aircraft. The additional services further strengthen connectivity between Southern Africa and Türkiye while supporting both business and leisure travel.
Passengers travelling via Istanbul can also benefit from Turkish Airlines’ Touristanbul and Stopover in Istanbul programmes, allowing eligible travellers to experience the city during extended layovers. Business Class passengers can also enjoy the award-winning Turkish Airlines Business Lounge at Istanbul Airport, further enhancing their journey.Â
