NORTHERN CAPE – A Colesberg drug dealer was arrested and a major R150 000 dagga seizure was executed following a coordinated effort between local law enforcement and a vigilant community member. The operation successfully removed a significant quantity of illicit substances from circulation in the region.
The apprehension took place on Monday, 13 July 2026, when a 50-year-old individual arrived at a local retail outlet to collect three suspicious parcels. Recognizing the irregular nature of the transaction, an alert retail store cashier facilitated immediate contact with the Highway Patrol Unit.
Acting swiftly on this civilian tip, officers intercepted the suspect in the immediate vicinity of the town’s taxi rank. A subsequent search of the three parcels uncovered thousands of small, individually packaged portions of dagga, carrying an estimated street value of R150 000.
The detained individual is slated to appear in court in the near future to face formal charges related to dealing in drugs.
Following the successful operation, the Northern Cape Provincial Management issued a formal commendation. The provincial authority explicitly praised both the Highway Patrol Unit members and the retail cashier for their exceptional alertness, cooperation, and rapid response to the suspected criminal activity.
