LIMPOPO — A joint murder and business robbery investigation is currently underway in Letsitele following the fatal attack on a security guard at a Berlin Farm property. Local law enforcement was dispatched to the scene on Monday, 13 July 2026, after reports of a violent incident that left the 79-year-old victim deceased and a high-value piece of equipment missing.
Officers arrived at the plot at approximately 09:25 and discovered the elderly man lying on the ground. Investigators noted that his hands and feet had been restrained using white cable ties. At the time of the incident, the victim was wearing a white T-shirt, a brown jacket, black tracksuit trousers, blue socks, and a black woollen hat. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel responded to the location and formally pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Initial inquiries indicate that the crime also involved a significant theft. A blue, 10.5-horsepower three-phase diesel generator, estimated to be worth R56,000, was taken from the premises. The heavy machinery had been anchored to a pole with a padlock and chain, but detectives believe it was forcefully detached and removed by the perpetrators.
In response to the fatal assault and theft, authorities have registered formal dockets for both murder and business robbery. The investigative team is actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the crime.
Police have confirmed that investigative efforts at the Berlin Farm location are ongoing.
