Pretoria, Gauteng — A major breakthrough has been announced in the murder investigation of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) election coordinator Monicca Dube, as the Political Killings Task Team confirms the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect in connection with her death.

The 44-year-old political figure, who also served as the EFF’s Tshwane Region 2 secretary, was tragically shot multiple times by armed assailants at her residence in the Valhalla area of Tshwane on June 13 of this year. The targeted attack had previously drawn intense scrutiny and demands for swift justice from community and political leaders.

Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, speaking on behalf of the Political Killings Task Team, officially verified the apprehension. She emphasized that this arrest represents a critical victory in the broader, ongoing fight against crime and targeted political violence in the region, signaling law enforcement’s dedication to holding perpetrators accountable.

Following the successful operation, the detained individual is currently in police custody. The suspect is scheduled to make their first formal appearance in court tomorrow to face charges related to the high-profile assassination, as investigators continue to build the case.
