LIMPOPO — A major Thabazimbi copper cable and ammunition arrest has taken a suspected infrastructure thief and illegal arms possessor off the streets following a coordinated night patrol. Law enforcement officers intercepted a 31-year-old male on Friday, 07 August 2026, discovering a stash of live rounds and heavy metal wiring hidden inside his black backpack.
The breakthrough occurred around 21:10 during a targeted sweep of the local policing precinct. Officers from the local Thabazimbi branch joined forces with specialized Task Team personnel drafted in from neighboring Hoopdal, Northam, and Dwaalboom to conduct joint operational duties.
During a stop-and-search of the pedestrian, authorities uncovered 50 rounds of live ammunition alongside 20 tightly rolled copper cables. The discovery led to his immediate detention on the spot.
Two distinct criminal dockets have been opened: one for the illegal possession of ammunition and another for the possession of copper cables.
