FREE STATE – A 50-year-old Zastron husband is scheduled to appear in the Zastron magistrate court on rape charges following allegations that he sexually assaulted his wife at their shared home in Refeng-kgotso.
According to official reports, the alleged incident occurred on Friday, 14 August 2026, at approximately 02:00. The 54-year-old victim, who practices as a Sangoma, stated she was actively attending to clients at their residence when her spouse approached her and demanded intimacy.
When the victim declined his advances due to her professional obligations, the suspect allegedly seized her and forcibly escorted her into a bedroom. The victim reported that the suspect undressed them both and violated her without her consent. Following the alleged assault, the suspect reportedly went to sleep.
The victim formally reported the incident to law enforcement on the morning of Friday, 18 August 2026, at 07:00.
A spokesperson for the Smitfield Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit confirmed that a formal rape docket has been opened. The unit is currently conducting an active investigation as the suspect prepares for his imminent appearance in the Zastron magistrate court.
