FREE STATE – Members of the Bloemfontein Flying Squad have arrested a 29-year-old male suspect and confiscated a quantity of crystal methamphetamine during a targeted law enforcement operation at a taxi rank in the Bloemfontein central business district (CBD).
The operation was initiated on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, following actionable intelligence received by the Bloemfontein Flying Squad regarding an individual allegedly in possession of illegal substances at the busy transit hub.
Acting on the tip-off, responding officers identified and approached a male individual who matched the provided description. A subsequent search of the individual led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing seven smaller plastic bags filled with a substance suspected to be methamphetamine, commonly known as Crystal Meth or Tik.
The suspect was taken into immediate custody at the scene.
According to the Bloemfontein Flying Squad, a case docket has been officially opened for further investigation. The 29-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court shortly to face formal charges relating to the possession of dangerous and dependence-producing drugs.
