WESTERN CAPE – A 26-year-old police constable and his 49-year-old father are facing charges of drug possession following a targeted intercept by Paarl police. The arrests underscore ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat suspected drug activity and maintain institutional integrity.
The two suspects were traveling toward Worcester when they were stopped by Paarl police acting on specific intelligence regarding suspected drug trafficking. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a narcotics detection dog alerted authorities to a sealed packet of chips.
Upon inspection of the concealed package, officers recovered 30 grams of crystal meth and 15 grams of cocaine. Both the constable and his father were immediately taken into custody on charges of drug possession.
The 26-year-old constable is scheduled to appear before the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 14 September 2026.
Western Cape SAPS management has publicly welcomed the arrest. In a statement addressing the incident, the spokesperson for the management assured the public of the organization’s unwavering commitment to rooting out criminality within its own ranks and upholding the law without exception.
