More, Jacobs join strong Elite Women’s line-up for Boxer Super Run Durban

Boxer Athletics Club standouts Karabo More and Kayla Jacobs are set to line up alongside a strong Elite Women’s Field at the Boxer Super Run Durban on Sunday, 18 October 2026, adding even more excitement to what promises to be a nail-biting 5km showdown.

Karabo More (Pretoria) has firsthand experience of what it takes to come out tops at South Africa’s most social 5km run, having placed first in the Elite Women’s Wave in 2024.

“The Boxer Super Run has created a platform where elite athletes and everyday runners can share the same start line, and that makes it really special. The atmosphere in Durban is always incredible, and you can feel the excitement from the moment you arrive,” says More, who is excited to return to an event that she previously won.

“My victory in 2024 will always be an important part of my journey because it showed me what I’m capable of. At the same time, I know every race is different. I’m returning with a different mindset, different experiences and a lot more growth as an athlete. The fast and flat course suits me because I enjoy running at a strong, consistent pace. My main goal is to execute the race well, stay composed mentally, trust my preparation and give everything I have from the start to the finish.”

Kayla Jacobs (Somerset West) admits that the 5km is her favourite distance, so she loved the event in 2025 when she made her debut.

“I enjoy racing over 5km because it’s a great mix of speed and endurance,” says Jacobs. “I enjoy that the race is intense and can also be tactical. The challenge is that it’s so short: if you lose focus for even a second or lose contact with the group, there’s very little time to recover. I’ve made good progress this season after returning from injury and postpartum, running a couple of track PBs as well as a 10km PB. I’m excited to put my speed and fitness to the test on a fast, flat course.”

In closing, Jacobs adds: “With a fantastic prize purse up for grabs, the field will be strong, but I’m looking forward to racing to the best of my ability. A podium finish and a new PB would make it a successful day.”

The Boxer Super Run Durban boasts a combined prize purse of R147 200 which will be awarded across both the Elite and Open Wave categories, with the top eight men and women in the Elite Race earning prize money, including R20 000 for each winner. In the Open Wave, the top three men and women in each age category, from Junior through to 70+, will also have the opportunity to earn prize money.

With the Elite Women’s Field taking shape, Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, says the addition of More and Jacobs will make for an exciting 5km showdown:
