WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS INVITED TO SHARE THE STORIES BEHIND THEIR BUSINESSES THIS WOMEN’S MONTH

Bolt’s “Bolt Sees You” initiative will award a R50,000 business grant, with South Africans voting for the recipient

This Women’s Month, South African women entrepreneurs are being invited to tell the stories behind the businesses they are building, often with limited resources, little recognition and a great deal of determination.

Through its Bolt Sees You initiative, mobility platform Bolt will award one woman entrepreneur a R50,000 cash grant to support the growth of her business. The initiative is open to eligible women who use Bolt in South Africa, with entries closing on 18 August 2026.

Entrants can share a public video or series of photographs about their business on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, tag @BoltSouthAfrica and use the hashtag #BoltSeesYou. No separate entry form is required.

Bolt will review eligible submissions and compile a shortlist on a rolling basis. Members of the public will then be able to vote for the entrepreneur whose story resonates most with them. The woman who receives the most verified votes by the closing date will receive the grant.

Across South Africa, women are sustaining households and creating opportunities through businesses of every size, from school transport,  salons, bakeries and crèches to market stalls, professional services and growing online ventures. Yet many of these businesses remain largely unseen beyond the communities they serve.

“Behind every small business is a woman who has taken a risk, solved a problem or kept going through circumstances that might have caused someone else to stop,” said Adega Murbe-Onyango, Regional Marketing Manager, of Bolt Africa.

“This Women’s Month, we want to recognise that work. While the grant will support one entrepreneur, every story shared will help shine a light on the courage, ingenuity and contribution of women building businesses across South Africa.”

The recipient will receive R50,000 via electronic funds transfer. Her entrepreneurial journey will also be documented and shared on Bolt South Africa’s social media platforms.
