South African actress and television personality Angelique Gerber and former Mrs South Africa 2020, entrepreneur and women’s advocate Jacqueline Ferns have officially launched Unscripted with Angie and Jacs, a new YouTube-based talk platform taking on the conversations many women are having privately, but rarely publicly.
Launched at a glamorous black-and-gold event at Amazon Restaurant in Menlyn on Wednesday evening, Unscripted brings together two women with very different public journeys, but a shared belief that modern women need more honesty, less performance and far fewer sugar-coated conversations.
The series tackles the realities women are navigating every day – relationships, heartbreak, marriage, motherhood, faith, identity, body awareness, what children are being exposed to, and the quiet pressure of trying to hold everything together while pretending you’re fine. Alongside Gerber and Ferns, the platform will feature carefully selected in-studio guests bringing professional expertise, lived experience and uncomfortable truths to the table.
Gerber is widely known to South African audiences for her work as an actress and presenter, with television credits including 7de Laan, Boer Soek ’n Vrou, Family Secrets and Diepe Waters. Ferns, a former Mrs South Africa and accomplished entrepreneur, has built a profile around women’s leadership, business and purpose-driven advocacy.
“Unscripted was created to be honest, not polished. It’s a space for the conversations women are already having with their closest friends – just finally out loud, with depth, humour, heart and the right people in the room,” said Gerber.
“More than a celebrity-led vlog, Unscripted with Angie and Jacs positions itself as a platform for real discussion around modern womanhood, parenting, personal faith, emotional resilience and the issues shaping homes, families and friendships right now. The messages won’t always be easy to hear but they will always be necessary,” concluded Ferns.
