Maxim, the e-hailing service connecting passengers with drivers through its mobile app, marked Mandela Month by bringing joy, care and support to children at Bophelo Child and Youth Care Centre in Kimberley during a community charity drive held on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
Held as part of Mandela Month, the initiative reflects Maxim’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves beyond transportation services. Through the charity drive, the Maxim provided meals, snacks and essential items while spending quality time with the children through music, dancing and shared activities, creating a joyful day of connection, celebration and lasting memories.
Bophelo Child and Youth Care Centre provides care and support for abandoned and neglected children, children with special needs, and mothers experiencing crisis pregnancies. The centre is currently home to 15 children, offering them a safe and nurturing environment where they can grow, learn and thrive.
The event was attended by Maxim Representative Bakang Khaba, promoter Pako Khaba, local blogger Karabo Bonokwane, caregivers from the centre and community volunteers, all of whom came together to make the day a memorable experience for the children.
Speaking at the gathering, Bakang Khaba, Maxim Representative for the Kimberley region, said the initiative reflected the importance of giving back to the communities the company operates in.
“The event was a great success. Everyone enjoyed the celebration, we danced together, and the children shared a meal. It was a wonderful day where fun was shared and lasting memories were created. At Maxim, we believe giving back to the community is just as important as the services we provide. Mandela Month reminds us that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference, and we are proud to support organisations like Bophelo Child and Youth Care Centre that make a positive impact every day.”
The charity drive forms part of Maxim’s Mandela Month outreach programme, which has seen the company partner with community organisations across South Africa to support vulnerable individuals and families. Through these initiatives, Maxim continues to honour Madiba’s legacy by investing in the well being of the communities it serves.
Looking ahead, Maxim intends to continue working alongside Bophelo Child and Youth Care Centre and other local charities on future community initiatives. The company believes that lasting partnerships with community organisations are key to creating meaningful change and remains committed to giving back to the communities it proudly serves across South Africa.
