KAYA 959 REVEALS REFRESHED LINE-UP: NEW VOICES JOIN THE BREAKFAST ERA

Kaya 959 has turned up the volume on its next chapter, unveiling a refreshed on-air line-up that combines the headline-making arrival of DJ Fresh on breakfast with exciting new additions and the return of familiar Kaya talent.

The refreshed schedule places strong emphasis on the station’s growing weekend offering, with Sweetness Motsepe joining Kaya 959 from You FM, Dee Nkomo joining from Capricorn FM, and Nonn Botha returning to the station.

Together, they add fresh energy, regional depth, music authority and audience familiarity to a line-up designed to carry Kaya 959 listeners from early mornings through the workday, into the drive home and across a rich weekend listening experience.

With DJ Fresh and Thato Mataboge set to lead Kaya Breakfast from July 1, the station has now confirmed the wider schedule that will shape Kaya 959’s next phase.

It is a line-up designed to feel energetic, familiar and fresh: big voices, trusted personalities, smart conversation, strong music shows and the unmistakable Kaya 959 sound.

Maekanya Morotoba, Programme Manager at Kaya 959, says the refreshed schedule gives shape to an important new chapter for the station: “The announcement of DJ Fresh was a major moment for Kaya 959, but it was also the start of a bigger story.

“We are now showing listeners the full picture. This is a schedule with pace, personality and purpose. We are excited to welcome Sweetness Motsepe from You FM and Dee Nkomo from Capricorn FM, and to welcome Nonn Botha back to the Kaya 959 family. Their addition strengthens the station’s connection with listeners and adds even more character to our weekend sound.”

The weekday line-up starts before sunrise with Let It Be, hosted by Xola Dlwati from 05:00 to 06:00, before Kaya Breakfast with DJ Fresh and Thato Mataboge takes over from 06:00 to 09:00.

From 09:00 to 12:00, TBose continues with The Best T in the City, followed by Andy Maqondwana on Feel Good from 12:00 to 15:00.

The afternoon ride remains bold and unmistakable, with Glen, Skhumba and Kgomotso hosting Kaya Drive from 15:00 to 18:00.

From Monday to Thursday, Gugulethu Mfuphi continues the business conversation on Kaya Biz from 18:00 to 20:00, followed by Phemelo Motene on Point of View from 20:00 to 22:00. Mablerh then takes over The Upper Room from 22:00 to midnight.

Fridays bring a different evening pulse to the station, with Bonolo Beesting hosting The Hive from 18:00 to 21:00, followed by The Upper Room with Mablerh from 21:00 to midnight.

The weekend schedule gives Kaya 959 a rich mix of music, mood and personality.

Saturdays begin with Thomas in the Morning from 06:00 to 09:00, followed by The Kaya Countdown with Bonolo Beesting, The Vibe with Dee Nkomo, Saturday Select with Sweetness Motsepe, On the Beat with George Manyosi and Nites Over Kaya with VK.

VK, who joined Kaya 959 in August last year, continues as part of the station’s weekend offering.

Sundays bring a more soulful and reflective rhythm, with Thomas in the Morning, Soulful Sunday with Nonn Botha, Spade of Hearts with Xola Dlwati, The Jazz Standard with Brenda Sisane, The World Show with Nicky B and The Lounge Experience with Sweetness Motsepe.

Morotoba says the refreshed schedule is built around the way Gauteng lives, works, moves and listens: “Kaya 959 has always been about more than filling time slots. It is about companionship, culture, music, conversation and connection.

“Our listeners are switched on, expressive and ambitious. They want radio that understands their world. This line-up gives them energy in the morning, ease during the day, personality on the drive home, substance in the evening and beautiful music experiences over the weekend.”

He says the new additions and returning voices are central to the station’s renewed momentum: “Sweetness, Dee and Nonn each bring something distinctive. Sweetness brings warmth, musicality and an instinctive connection with audiences. Dee brings fresh momentum and a strong radio presence. Nonn’s return brings familiarity, soul and a deep Kaya connection. Together with our established voices, they help create a full Kaya 959 experience.”

Morotoba says the station is entering the second half of 2026 with renewed confidence: “We are excited about what this line-up unlocks. Fresh is part of the momentum, but the real strength is how the full schedule now comes together. This is about breakfast, weekdays, weekends, music, conversation and the complete Kaya 959 listener journey.”

The refreshed line-up confirms Kaya 959’s next chapter as one of Gauteng’s most distinctive, influential and culturally connected radio stations.
