BELA-BELA — Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the alleged rape of a 24-year-old woman at a local liquor outlet on Friday, 13 June 2026.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was at the establishment with her sister. After her sister departed, the suspect allegedly approached the victim and demanded that she repay money he had spent on her sister earlier.
Upon the victim’s refusal, the suspect allegedly forced her into a nearby room, threatened her with a knife, and raped her.
The incident was reported to law enforcement, and a rape case was subsequently opened. Following an investigation, authorities apprehended the suspect. He is scheduled to appear before the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
