GAUTENG – A 26-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on 8 September 2026, facing charges of alleged possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. The arrest stems from a targeted law enforcement operation that has preliminarily linked the individual to the fatal shooting of two women and police officers in Reiger Park last month.
On Friday, 4 September 2026, members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation, based in Germiston, executed an intelligence-driven operation to apprehend the individual. The operation was conducted in close collaboration with the Gauteng Tactical Response Team (TRT) and the Gauteng Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU).
According to law enforcement officials, upon his arrest, the suspect was allegedly found in possession of a revolver, live ammunition, and two cellphones. These items were immediately seized as evidence.
Preliminary investigations have since established a connection between the suspect and the tragic incident on 7 August 2026, in which two women and police officers were shot and killed in Reiger Park.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains highly active. Officials noted that as the probe continues, the possibility of additional charges being brought against the suspect cannot be ruled out.
