KWAZULU-NATAL – A 29-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in the Durban Court on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, facing charges of possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition following a targeted law enforcement operation in Montclair. The arrest, executed by the Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit, stems from intelligence linking the individual to a series of shootings in the Wentworth area.
According to representatives from the Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit, law enforcement officials received credible information regarding an individual in possession of illegal weapons. Subsequent investigative work established a potential connection between the suspect and multiple recent shootings in Wentworth, prompting a coordinated response.
Acting on this intelligence, police officers converged on the suspect’s residential flat in Montclair on Monday, 21 September 2026. Upon the arrival of law enforcement at the premises, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the responding officers.
A search conducted following the arrest yielded the recovery of two pistols, four magazines, and 57 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was formally taken into custody and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
