KLERKSDORP — Thembela Titshala, a 49-year-old man, was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Klerksdorp Regional Court on Monday, 29 June 2026, following his conviction for rape. Acting North West Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo has officially welcomed the conviction and sentencing.
The conviction relates to an incident that occurred on Saturday night, 17 February 2024, at approximately 22:10. According to evidence presented in court, the 35-year-old victim was walking home alone from a local tavern when she heard someone call her by name. Recognizing the individual, she stopped.
The accused offered to accompany the victim, which she declined. He then forcibly grabbed and dragged her to his shack, where he raped her.
Following a thorough investigation, Titshala was arrested and prosecuted. The Klerksdorp Regional Court found him guilty of the charges and handed down the 25-year prison sentence.
