A 51-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in the Rouxville Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder and rape following the arrest by Rouxville police.
The 50-year-old victim alleges that the incident occurred on 13 June 2026. According to her statement, she was at a neighbor’s house from 14:00 consuming alcohol. When darkness fell, she returned to her residence intoxicated and went to bed without securing the door.
The complainant reports that at approximately 20:30, roughly 30 minutes after her arrival, an individual entered her home. Upon looking up, she identified the suspect and inquired about his presence. The suspect allegedly responded, “Kgale ke batlana le wena,” which translates to “I’ve been looking for you for a very long time.”
The victim states that the suspect then strangled her, dragged her between beds, undressed her, and raped her before departing the premises.
The complainant waited until daylight to report the incident to Rouxville police. Following the report, authorities were notified and the suspect was apprehended. All relevant parties have been informed of the arrest.
