53-Year-Old Suspect Arrested for Unlawful Firearm Possession in uMsinga

Intelligence-driven police operation at Enyonini Reserve yields an unlicensed rifle and ammunition, leading to formal charges and an upcoming Magistrate’s Court appearance.

KWAZULU-NATAL – A 53-year-old suspect has been arrested for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following an intelligence-driven police operation in the uMsinga policing precinct. The apprehension highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat the circulation of illegal weapons in the region.

According to a police spokesperson, officers responded to an identified location within the Enyonini Reserve at Keats Drift. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the suspect in possession of illicit items. A subsequent search led to the seizure of an unlicensed .253 hunting rifle with its serial number deliberately erased, as well as four live rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was immediately arrested, detained, and formally charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the individual remains in custody and is expected to appear before the uMsinga Magistrate’s Court in the near future to face the charges.
