ActionSA Election Campaign in Limpopo Gains Momentum Ahead of 2026 Local Government Elections

SESHEGO, Limpopo — The ActionSA election campaign in Limpopo has intensified as party President Herman Mashaba leads the ‘Mashupa Tsela’ rally in Seshego, just outside Polokwane. Ahead of the November 4, 2026 local government elections, the political party is aggressively targeting municipal breakthroughs across the province, aiming to secure council seats and lead key municipalities despite currently holding no representation in the region.

Mashaba, accompanied by a slate of mayoral and councilor candidates, emphasized that the rally is not merely a political event but a strategic platform to listen, account, and address broken systems. He highlighted the party’s commitment to accelerating service delivery, tackling corruption, and addressing illegal immigration. Echoing the demands of residents who are calling for clean government and functioning municipalities, Mashaba stated that citizens must never be made to feel they are asking for too much when demanding basic needs. “Water is not too much,” he declared to cheering supporters.

National Chairperson Michael Beaumont painted a grim picture of the province’s infrastructure failures, specifically highlighting a severe water crisis. He noted the unforgivable reality that, 32 years into democracy, dams situated near communities remain unconnected to local households, forcing residents to draw water from the same sources where livestock drink.

Despite these systemic challenges, Beaumont reported that Limpopo is currently ActionSA’s fastest-growing province, rapidly catching up to the membership levels of Gauteng. He noted that this surge dispels the notion that the party is solely a metro or city-based political movement, as rural and provincial communities are increasingly responding to their message of fixing broken municipalities.

Addressing the political landscape in Polokwane, the largest town in the province, Beaumont defended the party’s decision to field Victor Motoa as the mayoral candidate following a previous change in leadership. He framed the adjustment not as a flip-flop, but as a rare demonstration of accountability and a commitment to excellence in South African politics, noting that correcting mistakes ensures quality service delivery.

The party is heavily targeting the Capricorn and Mopani districts, with a specific focus on securing victories in Polokwane, Tzaneen, and Makhuduthamaga. In Tzaneen, Dr. Maripe Mangena has been named as the mayoral candidate, with Beaumont noting astronomical growth and a highly positive public response to his candidacy in the municipality.

On the ground, supporters are strongly echoing the party’s core message. Residents expressed their desire for ActionSA to take control of local municipalities to restore access to basic services like roads, water, and electricity. Furthermore, the youth demographic is looking to the party for economic intervention, with graduates highlighting the urgent need for job creation so that qualified young people are no longer left sitting at home without employment opportunities.

As the program continues, Mashaba is scheduled to deliver a keynote address to finalize the party’s vision and cement their push to secure council seats across the province in the upcoming 2026 elections.
