GAUTENG — Law enforcement authorities executed a highly successful Alberton illegal firearms bust on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, resulting in the detention of three men connected to a string of local robberies. The breakthrough occurred at a neighborhood filling station when a victim recognized his attackers from a theft that had taken place just a day earlier and immediately alerted the authorities.
According to a SAPS Alberton spokesperson, members of the Alberton Crime Prevention unit were swiftly dispatched to the scene after receiving the tip-off. When the officers moved in to confront the three men identified by the complainant, the suspects attempted to scatter.
