BRONVILLE — A severe Bronville kidnapping and attempted murder investigation has led to the arrest of three suspects after a critically injured man was found locked inside a car boot. The dramatic rescue unfolded on Sunday morning, driven by the quick thinking of a local resident who alerted authorities to the situation.
Law enforcement officers were initially dispatched to the area at approximately 08:00 on 28 June 2026 following a complaint of fighting. Upon arriving at the scene, a community member informed the police that an individual was trapped in the boot of a silver BMW. Officers immediately intercepted the vehicle, which contained three male occupants, and conducted a search.
Inside the boot, police discovered an African male suffering from multiple serious injuries. The victim was covered in blood and emitted a strong smell of petrol. He was swiftly transported to a hospital for urgent medical examination and treatment.
During the arrest, investigators observed blood on the hands and sneakers of the three men, who are aged 25, 27, and 40. Police confiscated the silver BMW allegedly used in the crime, along with two pairs of blood-stained sneakers. All items have been officially booked as evidence for the ongoing investigation.
According to police information, the violent ordeal originated at the victim’s home. The suspects allegedly assaulted the man, accusing him of stealing car parts from them. They reportedly poured petrol on him before forcefully shoving him into the vehicle’s boot and driving away.
The trio remains in custody, facing formal charges of kidnapping and attempted murder. They are expected to make their first appearance before the Welkom Magistrate’s Court soon.
