NORTHERN CAPE – A coordinated Kuruman dagga arrest was executed by the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) Highway Patrol and the Kuruman K9 Unit, resulting in the seizure of a significant cannabis shipment and the detention of a male suspect. The successful bust followed a targeted operation based on intelligence regarding a suspicious package routed through a local courier service.
According to the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) Highway Patrol and Kuruman K9 Unit, the operation unfolded on Thursday, 27 August 2026. Authorities acted swiftly on received intelligence detailing a suspicious parcel destined for a PAXI agency within the Kuruman area.
Law enforcement officers immediately mobilized, tracing the delivery to the specific local business. Rather than intercepting the package prematurely, officials maintained a discreet operational presence, strategically waiting for the intended recipient to arrive and claim the shipment.
At roughly 14:10, the male suspect arrived at the store and took possession of the parcel. He was immediately approached by the waiting police members, who instructed him to open the package for a mandatory inspection.
The inspection revealed 2.275 kilograms of dagga hidden inside, carrying an estimated street value of R11,350. The John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) Highway Patrol and Kuruman K9 Unit confirmed that the suspect was placed under immediate arrest on the spot. He is now facing formal charges of dealing in dagga and is scheduled to appear in the relevant local court in the near future.
