The Free State High Court sitting in Welkom has sentenced Sabata Nkatsa (31) to two life terms for murder and rape.
The sentencing took place earlier this month, following a violent incident on Friday, 4 August 2023, in Bothaville. The court heard that Nkatsa followed the victim to her destination, raped her, and stabbed her 17 times with a knife before fleeing the scene.
Sergeant Dannis Mokoena of the Bothaville Detective Services conducted the investigation. Nkatsa was traced and arrested in Stilfontein on 4 May 2025.
