LIMPOPO — A family friend has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in the Chavani Riverside Section under the Waterval policing area.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident allegedly occurred on Friday, 06 November 2026, at approximately 08:45. A 40-year-old mother left her 15-year-old daughter at their home and drove to the Nkuna Kraal mall in her motor vehicle. During the trip, the mother realized she had forgotten her bankcard and immediately drove back to the residence.
Upon arriving at the house, the mother found the front door locked and knocked. Her daughter opened the door dressed only in a towel. When the mother entered the home, she discovered the 37-year-old male suspect, who is known to the family as a friend, wearing only a pair of trousers.
Reports indicate that the suspect had entered the house, forced the teenager into the bedroom, covered her mouth with his hands, and raped her.
The mother immediately contacted law enforcement. A case of rape was officially opened, and the suspect was apprehended on the scene by responding officers.
The 37-year-old male suspect is scheduled to appear before the Waterval Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 09 November 2026, where he will face a formal charge of rape. Police spokespersons confirmed that investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
