A woman, estimated to be in her 30s, was allegedly mauled to death by dogs in the early hours of Friday on Magaretha Prinsloo Street in Klerksdorp.
The grim discovery was made at approximately 05:45 on Friday, 5 June 2026, by a neighbor who was heading to work. He immediately alerted the police after finding the victim’s body. Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) responded to the location but were only able to pronounce the woman dead at the scene.
The victim, who has not yet been formally identified, suffered extensive injuries across her body that are consistent with dog bites. Authorities report that the exact sequence of events remains unclear, as no eyewitnesses have yet come forward.
Following the incident, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) intervened at an adjacent property. Eight dogs were removed from the nearby residence, taken into SPCA custody, and subsequently euthanized.
Law enforcement has officially opened an inquest docket. Investigations are actively underway to piece together the circumstances of the fatal attack and to establish the identity of the deceased.
