DURBAN — Four authorised officers of the Durban Metropolitan Police Service (DMPS) have been arrested and suspended for allegedly extorting a businessman in the KwaSanti area.
The alleged incident occurred on Monday, 15 June 2026. Following an investigation into the matter, the officers were arrested and charged with extortion. The South African Police Service (SAPS) is currently handling the criminal investigation.
The four accused appeared before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 19 June 2026, where they were granted bail.
