FREE STATE – Authorities in Hertzogville have taken a 42-year-old stepfather into custody on murder and attempted murder charges following a fatal stabbing at Malebogo Location. The deadly domestic dispute resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man and left a female victim with head injuries.
On the evening of Saturday, 1 August 2026, at approximately 19:30, law enforcement and emergency responders were dispatched to a violent altercation in Malebogo Location. Upon arrival, officers were guided to the rear of a residential shack, where they discovered a 21-year-old African male lying unresponsive in a significant pool of blood. A severe stab wound was identified on the left side of the victim’s neck.
A Hertzogville police spokesperson confirmed that the tragic event unfolded during a domestic dispute. In addition to the fatality, a woman involved in the incident sustained injuries to her head. Responding officers quickly secured the scene and confiscated the alleged murder weapon. The knife has been formally booked into police records as evidence. The 42-year-old suspect was promptly arrested at the scene without further incident.
The suspect remains in police custody. According to the police spokesperson, he is formally charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. He is scheduled to make his first appearance before the Hertzogville Magistrate’s Court in the near future to face these charges.
