NORTHERN CAPE – A targeted narcotics crackdown has culminated in a significant Kakamas drug bust, resulting in the apprehension of a 28-year-old man and the confiscation of illicit substances valued at R20,000. The operation underscores local law enforcement’s dedication to eradicating drug distribution networks in the Langverwaght area.

Acting on actionable intelligence, officers from the Kakamas South African Police Service (SAPS) mobilized rapidly on Saturday, 18 July 2026, at approximately 07:30. The tactical team descended on a targeted property in Langverwaght, executing a comprehensive search based on credible reports of ongoing narcotics trafficking in the neighborhood.

The thorough search of the premises yielded multiple packets of dagga. Authorities estimate the seized contraband holds a combined street value of R20,000.00. Following the discovery, the 28-year-old male suspect was immediately detained at the scene. He has since been formally charged with dealing in drugs and will face prosecution in accordance with the law.

The case remains under active investigation as local authorities continue their zero-tolerance approach to substance-related crimes in the region.
