A coordinated law enforcement operation in Kimberley resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old foreign national and the seizure of narcotics valued at an estimated R16,000.00 on Wednesday, 03 June 2026.
The Tactical Response Team (TRT) executed the operation at approximately 08:30 on Waterloo Street after receiving credible community tips about a foreign national allegedly distributing drugs in the area.
Upon searching the identified premises, officers discovered plastic bags containing suspected tik (methamphetamine) and cat (Catha edulis). A weighing scale, concealed under a refrigerator, was also recovered during the search. Additionally, a significant sum of cash—believed to be proceeds from illegal drug transactions—was located and confiscated by investigators.
The suspect was arrested on charges linked to the alleged dealing in controlled substances and remains in police custody pending court appearance.
The South African Police Service reiterated its dedication to combating drug-related crime across the Frances Baard District. Officials publicly thanked local residents for their cooperation, emphasizing that the timely information provided by the community was instrumental in securing the arrest and removing harmful substances from circulation.
