KZN Police Arrest 58-Year-Old Nigerian National for Rock Cocaine Possession in Montclair

The KwaZulu-Natal SAPS Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit seized 96 pieces of rock cocaine valued at R76,800 during an intelligence-driven operation, with the suspect scheduled to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court.

KWAZULU-NATAL – An intelligence-driven operation conducted by the KwaZulu-Natal SAPS Provincial Drugs and Firearms Unit in Montclair has resulted in the arrest of a 58-year-old Nigerian national for the possession of drugs. The apprehension highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts to remove illicit substances from local communities.

During the targeted operation, law enforcement officers discovered the suspect in possession of 96 pieces of rock cocaine. The confiscated narcotics carry an estimated street value of R76,800.00.

KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza confirmed the details of the arrest and the successful recovery of the illicit substances. The operation underscores the provincial police’s continued commitment to combating drug-related criminal activities through focused, intelligence-led interventions.

Following the arrest, the suspect was formally charged with possession of drugs. He is scheduled to make his first appearance before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 July 2026, to face the allegations.
