NORTH WEST — Authorities have made a critical breakthrough in the Letlhabile murder investigation, taking a 16-year-old suspect into custody following the fatal stabbing of a 29-year-old man in Block G.
The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 06:30 on Sunday, 30 August 2026. According to police officials, a physical altercation broke out between the victim and the minor outside a neighborhood tavern, which quickly escalated into a stabbing.
Bystanders and local community members swiftly intervened, rushing the injured man to the Letlhabile Clinic. Despite their rapid response, medical personnel declared him deceased upon arrival. The victim’s mother has since formally identified the body.
Detectives immediately launched a probe, canvassing the area and interviewing multiple patrons who were present at the tavern. Intelligence gathered from these witness accounts enabled investigators to track down and apprehend the teenage suspect shortly after the incident.
Upon arrest, law enforcement representatives noted that the minor was wearing garments bearing suspected blood stains. These items were promptly confiscated by the LCRC for advanced forensic analysis. Authorities emphasized that the alleged weapon used in the commission of the offence remains unrecovered at this stage.
