LIMPOPO – Law enforcement authorities in Limpopo have arrested three suspects linked to the murder of a security guard and a business robbery at a Berlin Farm property. This decisive investigative action within the Letsitele policing area has also led to the full recovery of the stolen commercial equipment, marking a major breakthrough in the case.
Officers responded to a distress call at the scene on Monday, 13 July 2026, at approximately 09:25. Upon arrival, responders discovered the lifeless body of a 79-year-old security guard on the ground. Emergency Medical Services personnel examined the victim and officially certified him deceased at the location, noting that his hands and feet had been bound with white cable ties.
Early investigative findings revealed that a business robbery occurred alongside the fatal assault. The perpetrators had forcibly broken a chain and padlock to extract and steal a blue, 10.5-horsepower three-phase diesel generator from the premises. The stolen machinery is valued at approximately R56,000.
Through intensive and coordinated detective work, police successfully tracked down and apprehended three suspects, whose ages range from 20 to 26. This operation also yielded the retrieval of the stolen generator. Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, publicly commended the investigative teams, specifically highlighting their rapid deployment, seamless coordination, and the fruitful recovery of the high-value asset.
The detained individuals are slated for an imminent appearance at the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court, where they will face formal charges of murder and business robbery. Authorities confirm that active police investigations into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing.
