MK Party Rally in uMlazi: Duduzane Zuma Tackles Immigration, Youth Unemployment, and Election Vigilance

UMLAZI, KwaZulu-Natal — First Deputy President Duduzane Zuma addressed a massive MK Party rally in uMlazi this weekend, outlining the political formation’s final push ahead of the November 4, 2026, local government elections. Speaking at the K Hall, Zuma tackled pressing national issues ranging from illegal immigration and youth unemployment to internal party sabotage and the health of party president Jacob Zuma.

Stance on Illegal Immigration and Condemnation of Violence
Addressing the highly sensitive topic of illegal immigration, Zuma emphasized that the issue of undocumented foreign nationals requires a “blanket approach” rather than being framed solely as a “black-on-black” issue. He noted that undocumented individuals from Europe, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh also reside in the country, pointing to high-value property ownership in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape as evidence of this broader demographic.

While acknowledging the legitimate frustrations of South Africans regarding illegal immigration, Zuma firmly condemned violence, anarchy, and the destruction of public and private infrastructure. He stated that burning down hospitals is senseless and urged undocumented foreigners to respect South African laws. He called for peaceful, mandate-driven solutions, stressing that the infrastructure belongs to the people and their children.

Economic Vision and Youth Unemployment
Tackling the critical concern of youth unemployment, the MK Party’s First Deputy President argued that the government alone cannot create the necessary jobs. He highlighted that employment is a function of investment and urged the expansion of opportunities through business and entrepreneurship.

Zuma pointed out that young leaders are currently driving global changes in politics, business, and technology. He stressed that Africa, possessing the world’s youngest population, must capitalize on its demographic advantage by fostering private-sector opportunities rather than relying solely on municipal or government employment.

Jacob Zuma’s Health and Internal Party Matters
Quelling rumors regarding the health of his father and MK Party President Jacob Zuma, Duduzane Zuma assured supporters that the former president is “doing absolutely fine” and remains fully in charge of the organization. He confirmed that Jacob Zuma is actively involved in decision-making and is currently addressing internal disruptions.

This assurance follows the party’s confirmation on Thursday regarding the sudden removal of Secretary-General Sbonelo Nomvalo from his position and as a Member of Parliament. Operating under the core campaign slogan “Satato Maspala” (We are taking municipalities), the party is focused on solidifying its voter base. Zuma also noted that the party will celebrate its third anniversary at Moses Mabhida stadium in two months, where the incoming mayor is expected to address the masses.

Election Vigilance and Candidate List Sabotage
With the November 4 polls just days away, Zuma addressed allegations of candidate list manipulation, specifically noting that Ward 78 in uMlazi was impacted by councilor candidate list alteration errors. He confirmed that investigations into the sabotage are ongoing and promised to reveal those responsible, though some findings may only be released post-election.

To prevent a repeat of the alleged electoral fraud claimed during the 2024 national and provincial elections, Zuma instructed party volunteers to be highly vigilant. He demanded that special votes and ballot boxes be counted immediately at voting stations rather than being stored for days. He also reminded supporters to maintain “focus” on election day, strictly prohibiting party t-shirts, posters, and gazebos inside voting venues.

Looking beyond 2026, Zuma described the upcoming local elections as a stepping stone to 2029. He issued a stern warning to future MK Party councilors and leaders, promising strict removal for anyone who fails to execute the people’s mandate. He emphasized that the party’s ultimate goal is to deliver services, pull black people out of poverty, and implement their detailed manifesto without excuses.
