GAUTENG – A joint law enforcement deployment under Operation Prosper has resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old male suspect for alleged dagga dealing in Eldorado Park. The coordinated effort, involving the South African Police Service (SAPS), the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), and the Anti-Gang Unit, successfully targeted drug-related crime within the local precinct.
On Friday, 11 September 2026, at approximately 05:45, law enforcement members were deployed as part of Operation Prosper, an initiative specifically aimed at combating crime in the Eldorado Park area. Acting on crime intelligence-driven information provided by an anonymous source, officers targeted a specific premises in Old Eldorado Park suspected of being a hub for illegal dagga transactions.
Upon arriving at the identified location, officers encountered the 40-year-old male occupant, who identified himself as the owner of the property. The occupant voluntarily granted permission for a search of the premises. During the subsequent search, authorities discovered a bag full of dagga, alongside an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Following the discovery, the suspect was promptly arrested on charges of dealing in dagga. He has since been detained at the Eldorado Park SAPS station to undergo further police investigation.
Brigadier Maluleke, the Eldorado Park SAPS Station Commander, confirmed that this deployment forms part of ongoing, strategic efforts to address and dismantle drug-related criminal networks in the area.
