On June 10, 2026, the Pofadder Regional Court handed down a 10-year direct imprisonment sentence to 38-year-old Wessels Gary Kock following his conviction for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).
The court suspended two years of the sentence for a five-year period. This suspension is strictly conditional upon Kock not being convicted of assault GBH during those five years. Additionally, in terms of Section 103(1)(g) of Act 60 of 2000, Kock was officially declared unfit to possess a firearm.
The conviction stems from a violent domestic incident that occurred on December 3, 2024. Kock unlawfully entered his former girlfriend’s residence through a window while she was sleeping alongside her children. He proceeded to stab the victim repeatedly in her upper body, continuing the attack until she lost consciousness and required medical intervention.
