Bolobedu police are investigating a case of stock theft after six cattle were found slaughtered in the bushes near Mamokgadi village, with four others reported stolen.
According to police reports, a 58-year-old male victim stated that between Monday, 18 May 2026, and Tuesday, 19 May 2026, a cattle herder took four of his cattle to the bushes for grazing and failed to return with them.
On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, at approximately 13:30, the victim received information from a community member who reported seeing three cattle in the bushes, with one missing. The community member also reported finding one slaughtered cattle in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, the victim found six cattle that had been slaughtered. He was unable to identify his own cattle among them. The victim’s cattle are marked with a brandmark. A search of the surrounding bushes did not locate the missing livestock.
The estimated value of the missing cattle is R60,000.00.
Police have launched a manhunt for unknown suspects responsible for the stock theft incidents. The case is being investigated by Bolobedu SAPS under the Mopani District.
