Police Recover Three Firearms, Arrest Four Suspects in Yeoville Operation

An operation conducted by the Provincial Organised Crime Tracing Team and Gauteng Pers Flexi on 28 May 2026 resulted in the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of three unlicensed firearms in Yeoville.

The operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding a group of armed men circulating in a vehicle within the Yeoville area. Law enforcement officers successfully identified and intercepted the vehicle, which contained three occupants. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded two pistols and one AK-47 rifle. The three individuals were arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

While officers were processing the scene, a fourth man arrived and claimed ownership of one of the confiscated firearms. He was immediately placed under arrest on a charge of negligent handling of a firearm.

All three initial suspects are scheduled to appear in court on 01 June 2026 to face charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The fourth suspect will appear on a separate charge of negligent handling of a firearm.

Police have commended the collaborative effort between the Provincial Organised Crime Tracing Team and Gauteng Pers Flexi, stating that the operation underscores ongoing commitments to combatting illegal firearm possession and organised crime in the province.
