LIMPOPO – A Polokwane drug suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 10 September 2026, following an intelligence-driven operation that resulted in a drug seizure worth over R200 000. The 25-year-old woman faces formal charges of dealing in and possession of illicit substances.
The arrest was executed on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, by a joint operational team comprising members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit, Polokwane Detectives, and the Public Order Policing Unit. The operation was initiated after law enforcement received credible information regarding a woman allegedly involved in the sale of illicit drugs in Ntsima Village, located within the Sebayeng policing area outside Mankweng.
While en route to the specified location, the operational team observed the suspect driving a white Mercedes-Benz. Officers stopped the vehicle and requested that the suspect accompany them to her residence. After obtaining the necessary legal permission, authorities conducted a thorough search of both the vehicle and the premises.
During the search of the residence, police officers identified a black shopping bag. A subsequent inspection of the bag revealed a substantial quantity of suspected illicit drugs, specifically heroin, crystal methamphetamine, and CAT. The confiscated substances have an estimated street value of R211,160.00.
Following the discovery, the suspect was formally arrested and detained at the Sebayeng South African Police Service (SAPS) station to face the aforementioned charges.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General JP Scheepers, welcomed the successful outcome of the operation. He commended the involved police members for their swift and decisive action, emphasizing the critical value of acting on information provided by the community.
