Acting North West Provincial Commissioner, Maj Gen Deborah Mmolawa, has welcomed the conviction and sentencing of a 15-year-old offender found guilty of rape. The juvenile was sentenced to three years of direct imprisonment and will serve the term in a juvenile prison.
The rape occurred on Thursday, 16 February 2023. Court evidence revealed that a 9-year-old boy was at a soccer field with a friend, training, when the accused threatened the victims and raped the 9-year-old boy.
Maj Gen Mmolawa commended the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Mpho Samuel Mapane, for handling the complex and sensitive case with diligence, leading to the successful conviction.
