FREE STATE — A Qwaqwa murder case has concluded with a significant ruling, as 41-year-old Teboho Kubheka was handed 15 years of direct imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of Thabiso Molitsoane. The sentencing, which took place on Monday, 31 August 2026, brings legal closure to a tragic incident rooted in domestic jealousy.
Kubheka, a resident of Hasethunya Village, appeared in court to face the consequences of taking the life of the 43-year-old Molitsoane. Evidence presented during the trial revealed that the deadly attack was triggered by the accused’s belief that the victim was romantically involved with his girlfriend.
The successful prosecution was built on a meticulous investigation led by the Tseki Detective Service. Detective Sergeant Sabatha Rampini was the lead investigator on the case, gathering the crucial evidence needed to link Kubheka to the fatal stabbing. The Tseki Detective Service worked in close coordination with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to ensure the state’s case was thoroughly prepared for trial.
Reacting to the outcome, Free State Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia commended the dedicated efforts of both the South African Police Service (SAPS) investigative unit and the NPA. Highlighting the importance of holding violent offenders accountable, Lieutenant General Lesia noted that the collaborative, sterling work of the teams ensured the accused was rightfully brought to justice.
Emphasizing the broader implications of the ruling for the community, Lieutenant General Lesia stated, “The message is crystal clear: crime does not pay, and justice will prevail.”
