LIMPOPO — Six suspects were arrested and approximately R3 million worth of dagga was confiscated during an intelligence-driven crime prevention operation on Wednesday evening, 17 June 2026.
Acting on intelligence regarding the transport of illicit substances, a joint task force comprising Hoedspruit SAPS and local Farm Watch members intercepted three vehicles travelling along the R531 road between Klaserie and Snake Park. The vehicles were heading toward Tzaneen when they were stopped by authorities.
A search of the vehicles uncovered a substantial quantity of dagga, specifically 14 large bags and 20 smaller bags, with an estimated street value of R3 million. Police also seized the three motor vehicles allegedly used in the commission of the crime for further investigation.
The six suspects, aged between 18 and 37, were arrested and formally charged with dealing in dagga. They are expected to appear before the Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court soon.
Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the participating SAPS members and community stakeholders for their collaborative effort in combating drug-related crimes and ensuring safer communities.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
