Parks Tau, who leads South Africa’s Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC), has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The confirmation came via an official departmental statement issued on Wednesday, which noted that Minister Tau is feeling well and is currently observing self-isolation protocols as recommended by health authorities.
In the same communication, the Minister extended a request to members of the public and colleagues who may have been in close contact with him lately to pursue COVID-19 testing and maintain vigilant adherence to preventive health measures.
The department did not provide further commentary on the Minister’s condition or outline any adjustments to upcoming dtic engagements at the time of publication.
