
A multidisciplinary team conducting tracking and tracing operations acted on intelligence regarding a suspect allegedly in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Masibekela Trust in the Mbuzini area.
Upon arrival, members identified a suspect matching the provided description. A search of the premises was conducted, and three firearms and ammunition were discovered concealed in the ceiling. The suspect was immediately arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered firearms form part of six firearms stolen during an incident in Malelane in April 2026. To date, police have successfully recovered three of the six stolen firearms.
The recovered items are as follows:

One 9mm revolver

One 9mm Vector firearm

One .303 calibre rifle (Topper model)

Twenty-seven rounds of .303 live ammunition

Four 9mm magazines
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the members for their swift response and commitment in removing illegal firearms from circulation. He stated that the recovery of these firearms is a significant step in preventing further violent crimes and urged communities to continue working with the police by providing valuable information.
The suspect will appear at the relevant Magistrate’s Court soon, and police investigations are ongoing.
