A 54-year-old man was arrested on 10 June 2026 for the possession of suspected stolen copper cables, which carry an estimated street value of R16,200.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) launched the operation after receiving tips regarding the alleged theft of the cables. Based on this intelligence, officers secured a search warrant and executed it at a residential property in the New Extension area of Garies.
During the search of the premises, police uncovered burned copper wires and confiscated them to be used as evidence.
