Swift Police Action in Cacadu Leads to Arrest and Seizure of Three Unlicensed Firearms

EASTERN CAPE — Swift police action in Bongolethu Location, outside Cacadu, has resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old woman and the seizure of three unlicensed firearms. The operation underscores ongoing law enforcement efforts to curb the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition in the region.

On Tuesday, 14 July 2026, members attached to the Komani Flying Squad and Crime Intelligence acted on received information to execute a targeted search at an identified premises. During the operation, authorities successfully recovered three unlicensed firearms, specifically two 9mm pistols and one revolver, alongside 18 rounds of live ammunition.

Representatives from the Komani Flying Squad and Crime Intelligence confirmed that the female suspect was immediately taken into custody and formally charged with the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The confiscated weapons and ammunition will now undergo comprehensive ballistic testing to determine whether they were utilized in the commission of other criminal activities. The suspect is expected to appear before the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court soon to face the charges.
