
Two suspects have been arrested for the alleged possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition, and explosives following a raid in Zuurbekom, West Rand District, on Thursday.
Members of the Provincial Organised Crime tracing team conducted an intelligence-driven operation that led them to a premises in the area. Upon searching the location, officers located two men inside a room.
A subsequent search of the room resulted in the recovery of four unlicensed firearms. According to police, three of the seized weapons had their serial numbers filed off. Additionally, authorities discovered 200 live rounds of ammunition, 148 blasting cartridges, and capped fuses.
The two suspects were taken into custody and are due to appear in court soon. They face charges related to the possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition, and explosives. The investigation is ongoing.
