Two Foreign Nationals Arrested in Upington After 2.3kg Dagga Seizure

UPINGTON — Two foreign nationals have been arrested on charges of dealing in dagga following a highway patrol operation in the Northern Cape on Sunday, 21 June 2026.

At approximately 20:15, members of the ZFM Highway Patrol A Shift and A Shift Border Police conducted a Vehicle Check Point on the N10 national road between Upington and Groblershoop. During the operation, officers stopped and searched a white Toyota Tazz, discovering dagga concealed inside the vehicle.

The seized narcotics weighed approximately 2.3 kilograms, carrying an estimated street value of R55,725.00. Additionally, police confiscated R7,450.00 in cash suspected to be linked to the illegal drug trade.

The two male occupants of the vehicle, aged 32 and 39, were arrested and detained. Both suspects are foreign nationals.
