Vuwani SAPS Manhunt Launched for Suspect in Statutory Rape Case

Authorities actively search for a known male suspect following the disappearance and alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in Vyeboom.

LIMPOPO — A comprehensive Vuwani SAPS manhunt is currently underway for a known male suspect linked to a statutory rape case involving a 15-year-old girl in the Vyeboom area.

The incident reportedly unfolded between Saturday, 20 June 2026, and Monday, 22 June 2026, at a residence located in Vyeboom D Section, adjacent to a local hardware store. According to police reports, the victim’s mother returned from work on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at approximately 17:30 to discover her 15-year-old daughter was missing from the home.

Over the course of the weekend, the family conducted extensive searches and contacted the teenager’s friends, but all efforts to locate her were unsuccessful. The missing minor eventually returned to her residence on Monday, 22 June 2026, at around 09:00.

Upon being questioned about her whereabouts during the weekend, the teenager allegedly disclosed to her mother that she had been staying at her boyfriend’s place in Vyeboom D Section. She further revealed that the two had engaged in sexual intercourse during that timeframe.

Following these revelations, the matter was officially reported to the Vuwani police on Thursday, 02 July 2026. Authorities immediately registered a case of statutory rape to facilitate a thorough investigation. A spokesperson for the Vuwani SAPS confirmed that an active manhunt has been initiated to track down and arrest the known male suspect.
